After watching countless hours of football over the past few days and having my scouting jacket on carefully watching ever game in the euros for a possible new signing or two a few players have caught my eye.
Valon Behrami, Podolski, Schweinsteiger, Orlando Engelaar,Volkan Demirel ,Wesley Sneijder, Ibrahim Afellay, David Villa, Gökhan Inler, Eren Derdiyok, Servet Çetin have all impressed me and could all do a job at Arsenal. But 1 player has stood out for me as a possible star of the future and a player ready made for Arsenal and thats Galatasarays 21 yr old Turkish Winger Arda Turan. Ive seen this guy play a few times in the champions league and even before the start of the euros I rated him highly,But after scoring the winning goal for Turkey in the 90th min I’m convinced this guy can be the player we have been looking for since we lost Robert Pires.
Arda is a 2 footed winger who can play on the left or the right with an eye for goal. He is the closest thing to Robert Pires I have seen. The way he cuts in off the flanks and opens the play up is just typical Arsenal style. He can also play just behind the strikers.
Newcastle have been linked with a summer more for £11m rated Arda but from what I have seen his style of play would be perfect for us. Lets hope that Wenger is taking notes…

From the video he looks to be composed and skilled enough on the ball to play for Arsenal.
And I pretty much agree with your list there but Podolski is a really on or off player, he didn’t do too well for Munich this season but has been on fire this Euro season, same goes for Schwensteiger but in the match against Croatia he really changed the game when he came on, players operating down the left wing for Germany (Podolski and Lahm) really came to life when he came on.
Another player you should look at is Ivan Rakitić he was impressive for Croatia against Germany even moreso than the new Spurs boy Luka Modric.

I wonder at the quality of some of the opposition on that video but nevertheless he does look good, tricky, two footed, quick and with an eye for goal. You Tube is very good a making players look effective so off the strength of this I would agree that he looks Arsenal class, hoever if you’ve seen more of him and thsi is representative then I wouldnt disagree either. Frankly, I just want someone with experience to sign and give us some hope for next season!

Its a bit of an insult to compare this guy to the Legend that is Bobby Pires. Arda has some potential, but there are so many better wide players out there he wouldnt even rank in my top 50. You have named four in your list of players, that are either turkish or of turkish origin, and also all distinctly average…is there a pattern here? Arda has done nothing in this tournamnet to convince anyone that he has the skill, strength, power or intelligence to perform at Arsenal…in fact all he has done is score a deflected goal against switzerland. And the youtube clip shows him score one goal and the rest is him dribbling aimlessly with no end product other than loosing the ball. The only player worth a mention in your list is Afellay because hes young talented and affordable. Thats not to say Villa isnt,but he is 26 and very pricely.
I know any one can write a blog mate, but some realism and understanding of football would not go amiss.

Having clarified that, what Arda has done in Euro? Cocksucker u probably are talking from your fugged-fucked ass, just to remind you, Arda is not a scorer, yet he comes on when his team needs him the most just like in Czech Republic game. Dirt-head, do you remember that game? He scored the first goal to fired up the team. He sliced it through the “top-notch” Czech defense that was said to have the defense players from the top teams of Euro. He also scored the winning late goal in the extra time against Swiss. He is the youngest player to win the best player of the Turkish Primeria at the age of 20 and I can go on more. For your info, no, I am not a fan of Galatasaray and no I do think Arda hasn’t reched to his potential yet. He seems mostly right-footed actually and doesn’t show signs of Pires’ passing ability either (at least in the this video).

I am Turkish and I am a Galatasaray fan as well as an Arsenal fan. This guy is a great player but not in the Pires catagory.
). He is more of a Robben type player with less pace. He’s tricky but not like a Ronaldo or Messi but moeso like Joe Cole. He is a good defender as he was originally a right back like mancini of Roma was. He has a great goal scoring ratio for a winger at Galatasaray. I think this guy will need a year to adjust to the English speed yet will in time fully justify a tag of upto £15m. You don’t have to agree with me. I’d suggest you look at long har look at a £13.5m babbel and see what he’s done for Liverpool (nothing) or compare him to Modric who spurs got for £15m!!!!! All in all, Galatasaray won’t sell him for a penny less than the £15m mark anyway.
I personally would love to see him stay at Galatasaray as much as I’d like to see him move to Arsenal. He has many weaknesses in his game, most notably his lack of stamina. He always seems to fade in the last half an hour of games (not againts Switzerland
Finally, he is like a carbon copy of Ribery who Arda learnt off as Ribery was at Gala when arda was coming up the pecking order. Dam i write so much!! forgive my inthusiasm lol.

In he’s first two seasonsat Galatasaray he has played 54 games scoring 18 times.
Pires in he’s first two seasons at Arsenal played 61 games scoring 21 goals.
P.s UEFA.com describes him as a combative young midfielder with high levels of vision and technique and exceptional passing ability.

I don’t know whether you watched him in Czech Rep. and Turkey match, but Arda was top class in that match and scored Turkey’s first goal. He can play in Arsenal and I think he is able to be successful than Pires. I think he will play in a big club either this season or the next season. Keep watching that guy!

Arda Turan is a potential superstar. If he gets trained by such a big manager like Wenger i assure you, he can be better than Robert Pires. Firstly, he’s so talented, fast with the ball, has a great ball controll and crossing skills. His dribblings are amazing, he usually plays as left winger but he’s all rounder. The other thing must be mentioned is his defensive skills, most of wingers dont have this speciality. He played as a right-back while he was on loan in Vestel Manisaspor.. It was a nice experience for him, he improved his defensive skills a lot there… So if you have a well offensive full back in your team, he would play 2x better with Arda.
About his personality, he’s a born leader.Akthough he’s too young, he takes all the responsibility while he’s playing. Take a look at Euro 08 and last season of TSL, you will understand what i meant.. With these, Arda Turan will be loved so much by fans of the team that he goes
But Galatasaray won’t sell him this season, plus Arda Turan has confirmed that he wouldn’t leave the club if Gala’s chairman doesnt want him to leave.. So he’s not going anywhere at least for next 2 years.

I think the best thing about Arda is you cant get the ball off him, the ball sticks to his foot.
Although he does not have the most fancy skills, he gets past players, which is what Arsenal are looking for.
He does cut in most the times and can do alot of damage.
Video does not do justice for Arda, leave the youtube videos aside, go to BBC website, connect to iPlayer and watch the Turkey highlights or Full match coverage again and you can see Arda, or you can just wait for the Croatia Match.

He’s a decent player. I think he has the natural ability and vision of a premiership player and is definately more suited towards the arsenal style of play. I think the price is well worth it, he’s a turk, which means he will deliver
%100 at all times. That should now be evident if it wasn’ t before. He has respect for the opposition and i liken him to a more fresh and enerjetic version of joe cole with a lot to prove. At the right club this guy will achieve a lot. I think he has the arsenal mentality and if Wenger chooses to part with the money they could gain a real peice of class. His ability to beat players and get into the box reminds me of a bit of ljunberg and pires.

Arda is one of the best young players in Turkey.. Im a devoted Galatasaray fan and wish our Arda will stay with us, I will be upset when he goes but also very proud as we will like to see him go bigger..But I would say for him to stay with us another season then go to Spain or England as he wishes, plus Newcastle wants him too..

On topic, NO he is nothing like pirlo – i personally like the way he plays. He’s a versile winger (which i think would be better off playing as CM instead) that has 2 good things going on for him;
- He has good discipline for that age, thats handy for a potential star
- As mentioned before he’s got more defensive attributes then many of the attacking midfielders out there.
Add those to the fact that he’s also good with both his feet and you’ve got yourself a joker that can dance on halfway of the pitch.
Thats about it, cool kid though.

I’m an all time Arsenal fan, and I don’t know a lot about Arda but I’ve seen some great skills.. If you ask me, we should buy Arda and I think he probably will play in the 1st 11 after less than a season.. But if Wenger would be interested in a turk, than I’d rather have him buying Hamit Altintop from Bayern Münich, that’s what I call a class player..

According to Turkish sports daily Fotospor, Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus are observing Galatasaray’s star 21-years old midfielder Arda Turan. After his two goal performance and display of play-making abilities in the group stage of EURO 2008, Arda began to appear on the radar of many big European clubs.
Most recently the young Turkish national was being scouted by Arsenal which is said to have a 12 million euros offer rejected by Galatasaray. Being a long time galatasaray fan,let me tell you that turkish league is no joke.With avarage offensive qualities and dominant defensive players ıt ıs much different than premıer league.The hustle Arda puts out in the league is something you have to see from the field.I personally think he is way beyond for turkish football.I have seen him make men twice his age cry.For real.He definetely will be in the same category with pires in the future.In the meantime CIM BOM BOM wont sell him.Because his best is yet to come.

Arda is maybe not a good player in the first season in Arsenal. But Arsenal as a team has good trainers & they will make Arda available to play in Premier league… Thats the same thing like Milan did it for Kaka’ they trained him up. But if people are gonna comment with racist attitude such as: “Arsene never sign a turk!” or “Vela get chances in the 1st team, than waste £11 on the turk”… So it is better for Arda to stay! Hi Gooners, i’m a galatasaray fan as well as an arsenal fan and i watch every gala game and every time arda gets the ball i just say to my self “just look at that talent” hes an amazing player with speed tricks and perfect balance he his two footed and always does his best in every game he helps the defence alot azwell.
hes not a lazy player like anelka and i have to say he is better than nasri. Don Balon (Spanish football Magazine) Rated arda 8th best youngster in the world.

i have seen this guy play and hes way, i mean way better than nasri. he can play right wing, left wing and behind strikers and hes real class. barcelona also wants him to fill the left wing sub positon, as henry plays left wing, and after henry retires, arda will play left wing for barca(if they buy him)
