The Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger will stun every Arsenal fan by admitting “We are now a SELLING club”
The £24m annual mortgage payments on the club’s £360m Emirates Stadium have become such a burden that Wenger admits he must now flog big-name players EVERY season.
He declared: “The strategy of the club is to sell every year and to buy less expensive players.”
And he has warned this official policy could continue for another 17 YEARS!
He added: “We manage at Arsenal to maintain all our football ambitions — national and European —while having to free up – for 17 more years – an annual surplus of £24m to pay for our stadium”.
“The club’s strategy is to favour the policy of youngsters ahead of stars and to count on the collective quality of our game.”
Personally I feel that if Wenger did say the above he has done this to play the media so he can get a better price when signing a new player? But knowning the NOTW this might turn out to be utter garbage…?? I love the summer : )

So how did they get this bombshell of a story:
1. Arsene decided to confide in the trustworthy NOW journalist?
2. He called a press conference only the NOW bothered to attend?
3. A little green man popped into the NOW office and told them?

As i feared all along.This will not stand if we are left to much behind next season Usmanov or Kroenke will buy the lot.

Arsenal Make 3 million per home game without TV rights and sponsership deals ..thats just burgers and tickets…with roughly about 28 homes games per year including cups and all. 24 million = 8 home games so I can believe that Wenger Said the first bit about the debt burden…but it’s hardly a burden as everyone seems to have forgotten about the 85 million that have accrued from last years budget that has just had 36.5 million added to it by the champs league TV cash. This story is just a reworked David Dein titbit to offset Kronke’s arrival on the board..certainly not to be believed at face value.
If this IS true and I am not sure I believe it, then it is indeed a very worrying thing to say. The logical conclusion is that, unless we want to just linger around for the next couple of decades, the club must be sold to a multi billionaire or it was a great mistake moving from Highbury. Otherwise Cesc will go, followed by the next best player etc, etc..,Now what sort of future is that?
I think the quote smells of bollocks to be honest. Any players we’ve sold in the last 5, 6, 7 years have been sold at the right time and they’ve gone on to produce very little like Veira, Petit, Edu, Overmars, Reyes and more recently Henry. I think it’s a case of us selling Hleb and possibly Ade and a newspaper trying to sell a story that we’re a selling club and that the world is going to end for all Arsenal supporters which is rubbish. We do have loans to pay back but it’s over a time as we all know and while we can’t go out and spend 20-30 mill on one player we do have money or to put simply we don’t have to sell.

I believe this is a cover story for an excuse to sell Adebayor and Hleb and buy players that are not as good as replacements.

I agree with Arsene Wenger because Arsenal buys young players and sell them after mature. It is too bad, because I would like to see how Arsene Wenger would perform, if he is given big money to spend.
So… did the reality finally hit you guys??? My friend was preety proud of Arsenal that they don’t have any star players n still perform so well… the sad thing is, he said this at the worst possible time, and Arsenal hit the worst form in the following week and were overtaken by Chelsea.
So now that you’re sinking in the bog more and more, you really still believe u’re worthy???
