Match Talk: Arsenal vs Burnley

Summary & Opinion

What a way to spice up my weekend, a brilliant performance by the Arsenal, we secured a place in the Quarter final against Hull City 2 weeks from now.

I must say, i think nearly every player put on a good show today, even the two players that had been getting the most slagging off in recent months. Alex Song for me had to of been one of the most stand out players today against Burnley, i believe it was one of his best games this season, he made a brilliant assist to Eduardo who finished that goal brilliantly (which you can see in the highlights below)

Eduardo returned from a minor injury today yet put on a good show, and the Return of Theo Walcott had the stadium and atmosphere buzzing when he come on and gave us that ability to create chances that we have missed for so long, it was clear what we lacked and indeed it’s Theo’s speed on the wing. It’s ashame he didn’t net one in today. Arshavin as i continuously say is amazing, i’m really disappointed he didn’t score, but his time will come, he looks sharp.

The highlight of the game had to be Eboue’s goal and the celebration afterwards, it really made me smile! I couldn’t believe he made the back of the net in the end, great finish and that should put some confidence into him and get the boo boys of his back.

Overall we can’t get carried away, remember we were playing a Championship side, but our form is looking slightly better now with players coming back, so lets not focus on the negative for now.

Below you can check the AFC Blog player ratings.

Player Ratings:

Fabianski (7)
Sagna (7)
Djourou (6.5)
Gallas (7.5)
Gibbs (7)
Eboue (7)
Song Billong (8)
Diaby (7)
Arshavin (7.5)
Eduardo (8)
Vela (7.5)

Well done to the boys, nice to see another cleansheet aswell as a win, bring on Chelsea in the Semi’s (If we beat Hull which i believe will give them a nice slaughtering)

Burnley are a championship side pushing for the playoffs. They are not as bad as some people are making them out to be. Song was my man of the match for sure. He broke up play and added to our offensive play. The offensive side is something he has developed very well recently. His ball distribution has imoroved tremendously, both in the air and along the ground. And he¿s always been a defensive player so his defensive play is getting better & better. As i mentioned before, i liked Arshavin¿s defensive game as he tackled very well, and offensive play continues to improve¿his thru ball were top-class. Eduardo was very good as was Vela. Vela was all over the pitch, contributing very well all-round and like Eduardo scored a great goal. Eboue looked sharp, good goal for him. Our defensive & Fabianski were solid. Theo looked fresh and ready for action. As is the usual story with us, we could have scored more but the game made my day without a doubt. Arshavin is just in a class of his own. Just unfortunate the team doesn¿t make the most of it.

I agree Burnley shouldn’t be so under rated as you say, i guess these are the games where Eboue and Song may build confidence for league games.
